Intern - Digital Design Engineer
SiFive is the leading provider of market-ready processor core IP, development tools and silicon solutions based on the free and open RISC-V instruction set architecture. You will work side-by-side with the founders of RISC-V and bring to fruition the new RISC-V architecture and enable its rapid adoption by implementing new tools, breakthrough design methods and services. If you are a student interested in high level design of digital circuits, and would like to gain experience with real-world application-driven chip designs, SiFive is a great place to get some hands-on experience working in a state-of-the-art hardware design flow.
The digital design engineering intern will work with experienced designers on a project to improve or implement a piece of spec-based soft IP which will be integrated SiFive's in RISC-V processor based chips and made available on our SaaS platform to build chips in the cloud. The engineering intern will have the opportunity to design and debug real circuits in a supportive environment, and the potential to see their work made available to the public and realized in silicon.
- Read and understand digital interface specifications
- Implement or modify spec-based designs for interface controllers in Chisel
- Create test platforms and code to verify and debug those designs instantiated in an SoC
- Model the designs on an FPGA and verify them in the lab
- Understanding of Chisel and Verilog hardware definition languages.
- Coursework in digital circuit design and simulation
- Low-level programming experience using C and/or Assembly
- FPGA experience a plus
