Location:
Please note that due to COVID-19, all US-based internships in 2021 are remote and therefore open to all US-based candidates. In the chance that work-from-home restrictions are lifted, and you do not live near one of our offices, SiFive may arrange you to travel to the local office or HQ to meet the team. 

What You Will Work On:

As an Intern on the RISC-V Core IP team, you will have a one of a kind opportunity to work on our U8 series cores, SiFive's highest performance Linux-capable cores. Depending on your skills and capabilities, you can work on one of the two projects:

1. U8 Improvements

You would be focusing on making various improvements to our U8 series, including tasks such as RTL feasibility studies, power analysis/reduction, and redesigning or improving small modules.

2. U8 Vector/Arithmetic Work

In this project, you get to make improvements to integer divider arithmetic unit as well as help with vector unit design.

What You Will Learn:

  • Better understanding of digital logic and RTL design principles
  • Using Chisel, an Object Oriented Programming language
  • Principles of CPU micro-architecture
  • Power analysis and optimization techniques

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline
  • Basic understanding of CPU design
  • Basic knowledge of Object Oriented and/or Functional Programming languages
  • Understanding of Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL
  • Detail-oriented and a team player
